2011 ISBE Workshop/ July 18-29
Prepared by: Shaikh Ahmed Associate Professor Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Southern Illinois University Carbondale E-mail: ahmed@siu.edu Phone: (618) 453 7630
THEME: Science is a creative endeavor of the human mind. It offers a special perspective of the natural world in terms of understanding, interaction, and design.
Learning—Full understanding of the key concepts and skills Solving Problems—Recognize and investigate problems; formulate and propose solutions supported by reason and evidence Communicating—Precise and complete descriptions and the presentation of conclusions supported by evidence.
Enhancement of Learning (Understanding and Inquiry) through: Graphics/Animation—encourages student interaction. Videos—stimulates visual senses to encourage interaction, no more than 5 minutes in length. Sound—stimulates the auditory senses to encourage interaction. Student Interest—concepts are conveyed quickly and effectively to students.
Enhancement of Design (Solving Problems) through: Simulations
ROLE OF COMPUTER SIMULATION IN INDUSTRY: Presentation by S. Sundaresan and A. Muntahi
